Edna Manor gets new flooring in the family room.
New flooring is just one of the makeovers that Edna Manor is getting. Our home was built in 1996, and while we've changed a number of things, this is just one of the updates that are done. We have more to go! In the photo below, you will see our old Berber carpeting. We have dogs, and found out early on that smaller dogs are harder to train. We are constantly cleaning up. They are elderly now, but still have accidents. A porcelain tile floor seemed like the very best option.
We went to a number of tile shops and thought we found a great tile.
Then, we went about hiring a very good installer who gave us a good bid. He brought us samples of the porcelain tile in different colors. We selected a grey wood pattern for our new flooring.
As you can see in the photo, the planks are long and wide. We love the Herringbone pattern. The installation costs extra because it takes longer to install and there are more cuts to make. Our installer did a fabulous job. The old carpet is gone and we are very happy about that!
He also did the installation of the new taller baseboards.
We will put them in the rest of the house when we lay the new flooring in other areas. It will all be wood though, except in the bathrooms and laundry room.
Our new flooring is beautiful and easy clean up. We choose not to go with heated floors. One day when little dogs are not under foot, we will add a beautiful throw rug under the sofa and coffee table.
